Hailing from the nation's capital, Joy has always been artistically inclined. It was during her undergraduate matriculation at Temple University that she picked up her first 35mm film camera as she began forging connections within the community and documenting street culture at large, in Philadelphia, PA. It was during her final semester of undergraduate studies in Tokyo that Joy took her first formal course in digital photography—one exposure after another, it's been a love story ever since. Her love of the craft has taken her to Los Angeles, CA where she created a body of documentary work and worked as a FOX Unit Stills Photographer.
Joy has received accolades for her documentary work in Montgomery and Selma, AL and has been featured in several group exhibitions. She presently holds an M.Ed. and has undertaken graduate coursework within the areas of film, motion media, and photography.
Joy is presently based in Washington, D.C. and available for hire both locally and abroad.
